Update #3 (5 Oct 2026): what changed, checked in the game data
5 Oct 2026Game build: 25738165
Update #3 came out on 5 October 2026 and installed game build 25738165. We compared the game data and the game code of this build with build 25680465, the one before it. This page lists what the developers announced, what we found changed, where the two disagree, and what we updated on this site.
What the developers said
Our short summary of the developers' patch notes, not checked against game data; what we did check is in the next section. The full notes are on Steam: Update #3 announcement.
- Managers restock in step with the red "Restock Ingredients" objective, which appears when an ingredient drops below 10, and they count deliveries already on the way. Not confirmed29
- For venues run by other characters, which were struggling later in the game, deliveries are scheduled better, staff in every role may carry them to storage, and one island got trash bins for rotten food.
- Managers gain skill experience for handling complaints (more when it goes well), for ordering ingredients and for delivering them.
- The wait between a manager's order and the delivery depends on the manager's level: 10 seconds, down to 4 seconds at the top level.
- The restock notice appears after the delivery, not when the order is placed.
- Staff spots were updated in every venue players can own.
- The achievement points needed to unlock each district were raised, because they were too easy to reach.
- A character's neon sign is now a decoration you can place in your venue or apartment.
- Fixes: cleaning up rotten food when both storages hold a lot of it, levelling at one venue, three quests that now account for characters who are no longer available, customers who would not leave when you took their order without the right appliances, item duplication with vending machines and composters, and more.
- Performance, lighting, sound and visual fixes, three new greenhouses in one district and a decorated neighbour apartment.
Changes we found in the game data
Each line below was found by comparing the two builds' game data, asset tables or code. Links go to the pages that show the new numbers.
Table and staff limits
Update #3 changed the table or staff limits at 6 of the 14 venues you can own: table limits at 5, staff limits at 2. Menu limits did not change.23,24
| Venue | Limit | Before | Now |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sunset Hour23,24 | Level 1 tables | 1 | 2 |
| Sunset Hour | Level 2 tables | 2 | 3 |
| Sunset Hour | Level 2 staff | 1 | 2 |
| Sake Bar | Level 2 staff | 2 | 3 |
| Yuan Zhi Restaurant | Level 1 tables | 6 | 4 |
| Yuan Zhi Restaurant | Level 2 tables | 8 | 6 |
| Obsidian Noir | Level 2 tables | 3 | 4 |
| Toshigami | Level 2 tables | 3 | 4 |
| Fly In | Level 2 tables | 3 | 4 |
At Sunset Hour the level 2 staff limit used to be 1, one below its level 1 limit of 2, so levelling up meant one person fewer. Now both levels allow 2. The developers' notes mention a levelling fix at this venue.
Every limit at every level is on Renting venues, business permits and the starting venue.1,2,20
Achievement points for districts
Every district that needed achievement points now needs twice as many. One district that needed none now needs 5, and four districts still need none. A district opens for travel as soon as your achievement points reach its requirement, and stays open after that.3,25
Each district's page in the Locations list shows its current requirement.
A sign becomes furniture
The Neon Sign is now furniture, tagged as art and decoration, with comfort 5 (it was not furniture before, with comfort 2). The game's placement check allows it in venues, apartments and greenhouses.23,24
In our recorded vendor snapshot 7 vendors sell it, art dealers and home furniture vendors. Before the update no vendor offered it.
Storage furniture
The Buffet now adds 100 cupboard and 50 fridge spaces to a venue's storage, and the Teppanyaki adds 100 cupboard spaces. On the build before, neither added any storage.21,23
Customers only order what your kitchen can cook
Customers now pick only among menu items that are in stock and that your kitchen can cook. Before, being in stock was enough.4,5
If nothing they would order passes both checks, they don't come in that time, and no review is left. See How customers choose what to order.4,5,6,7
Staff without the skill
Someone who cooks or serves without that skill now counts as quality 0.8 before the happiness factor. On the build before, a missing skill stopped the cooking or serving step before any quality was set.8,9,22,26,27
The experience point for a meal or a delivery is now added before the skill level is read, so a level-up from it already counts for that meal. See How review stars are calculated.
Managers, deliveries and staff changes
- In venues you can own, a dish now counts as running low when storage plus deliveries on the way cover fewer than 10 servings. Before, the line was the dish's sales in the last 4 game hours, or 5 servings without sales.10,29
- Estimate: when an ingredient is below its target, the manager now buys the full target again (10 servings' worth, or the last 4 hours' sales if higher) on top of what is left. Estimate10
- The restock notice now shows when a staff member with the Managing task stores the delivery, not at the purchase. When someone without that task carries it, there is no notice.11,12,13,21
- Managers now gain experience for storing a delivery (1 point) and for handling a complaint (6 points, or 4 if it goes badly).14,15,28
- Hiring, firing or changing someone's tasks now clears waiting jobs nobody left can do: complaints when nobody has the Managing task, trash pickups when nobody cleans or serves, and in your own venues waiting deliveries when nobody manages, cleans or serves. Those ingredients go to your own inventory.10,13,16,17,18,19
The Planner uses the current rules for staff and stock.
Quests
Quest changes spoilers
- Protection Racket: of the three people you can ask for help, one now counts only while he has not left. If he has left, the steps for the other two open without asking them.24
- The Coffee Run: one delivery goes to a customer only while she is still around. If she has left, the run skips her and goes on to the next customer.
- A conversation in A Drink to the Past and one in The Network now record that a character has left. The Coffee Run reads the record set in A Drink to the Past.
- Two other quests have small changes not listed here: one in a start condition, one in what a conversation does.
What the notes say that the data doesn't show
- Staff spots: the notes say staff spots were updated in every venue you can own. In the data, staff limits changed at 2 of the 14 venues and table limits at 5. If the notes mean something our data does not record, such as where staff stand, we cannot check it.23,24
- Delivery time: the notes say the wait between a manager's order and the delivery runs from 10 seconds down to 4 by manager level. Estimate: in the game code that wait is passed along but not used, so a delivery can be carried to storage right after the purchase. Not checked in game. Estimate13
- Restock and the red objective: the running-low rule now uses 10 servings, as the notes say. We have not read the objective's own code, so we can't confirm that both count the same way.10,29
- The sign: the notes name venues and apartments; the placement check also allows greenhouses.23,24
- The Buffet's storage was announced in Update #2, but our asset table of the build after Update #2 still shows none; this build has it. The Teppanyaki's new storage is not in any notes. Not confirmed21,23,30,31
- Most other points are performance, visual and bug fixes that the game data does not cover. We have not checked them. Not confirmed29
What changed on this site
- All game data on the site now comes from build 25738165: recipes, items, furniture, vendors and prices, venues, districts, quests, quest conversations and the text in both languages.
- Renting venues, business permits and the starting venue and the Planner use the new table and staff limits.
- How customers choose what to order and Dish satisfaction and the price cliff say that an item must be in stock and cookable.
- District pages in the Locations list show the new achievement point requirements.
- The Planner's notes on staff with several roles and on manager buying follow the game's current task order.
- Quest pages use the new quest data.
- Game updates now have their own section, Updates.
