Update #2 (2 Oct 2026): the developers' notes in short

2 Oct 2026Game build: 25680465

Update #2 came out on 2 October 2026. The oldest game data we hold is from build 25680465, the build right after this update, so we cannot compare the game before and after it. Below is our summary of the developers' notes, then what the current game data shows for some of the points.

What the developers said

From the developers' notes, not checked against game data. The full notes are on Steam: Update #2 announcement.

  • Staff pick tasks in a fixed order: serve a meal, process an ingredient, make a meal, take an order, deliver ingredients, buy ingredients, handle a complaint, clear a meal, clean up trash, clean up storage. The notes say this rewards giving staff separate jobs, and that a venue with one staff member and many seats will likely leave customers unserved. Not confirmed8,9
  • Older ingredients are used first for meals. This means less rotten food but can lower the freshness part of reviews.
  • Decorative furniture with storage space now counts toward a venue's storage, and the Buffet stores 100 normal and 50 refrigerated units.
  • Trash bins in one district were moved closer to the venues there, to help managers and cleaners.
  • If the game crashes while overwriting a save, the previous save is kept.
  • Graphics settings: a confirmation before changing texture quality, the Low texture setting removed, fixes for monitor and resolution changes, and a new "Lighting Details" slider that limits how many lights are active.
  • Known issues at the time: slowdowns after fast travel (saving and reloading helps), and staff sometimes getting stuck, which hiring fewer staff makes less likely.

What the current game data shows

These points are checked on build 25738165, the build of Update #3, not on the build of this update.

  • Estimate: staff take the first job in a fixed order that has work waiting: serving, prep, cooking and taking orders first, then storage cleanup, deliveries, buying and complaints, and clearing tables and trash last. The notes put storage cleanup at the end; in the current game data it comes before deliveries. Estimate1,6
  • A person only does the jobs you tick for them, and only during their shift. Carrying ingredient deliveries to storage is the exception: anyone on shift can do it. Without a cook and a server on shift at the same time, the venue takes no new customers.1,2,3
  • Cooks use the ingredients closest to spoiling first (checked in the game code for units of one item stored together, not yet across separate stacks).4
  • Storage space is the venue's own space plus its fridges and cupboards, counted per unit of food. Every placed furniture piece with storage space adds to it.5,6
  • The Buffet stores 100 cupboard and 50 fridge units on the current build. Our asset table of the build right after this update still shows no storage for it, so it arrived later, with Update #3 at the latest. See Update #3.6,7
